Airport Parking Directory - BOOK HERE

Ashford International is plainly not an airport. But like Dover, which we have covered below, it is a gateway to international travel, and many people use it for that purpose. Why? Because the Eurostar stops there en route to and back from Paris.

But why would people use Ashford when the train starts in Waterloo? Because Waterloo is in Central London, which is expensive to get to and pretty pointless should you live in the South East of the country in places such as Kent (obviously), Surrey, Sussex, Essex and even Hampshire. If you have heavy baggage for instance you are unlikely to want to go to Waterloo to pick up the Eurostar when you can drive to Ashford station and leave your car near to where you catch your train. This is why the station was purpose built when the Eurostar was built, to give people from that side of the country or people who wish to take their car to where they catch the train the opportunity to do so.

To get to Ashford International station, you need to get to the M20, which is easily reached off the M25, which is the main motorway orbiting London. Ashford International is clearly signposted off the M20, and is 10 miles from that road up Elwick Road. Ashford town centre is situated nearby.

The station itself is as modern as you might expect from a place that was built in the mid-90s. The departure concourse has a café and a bar in as well as facilities for picking up luggage trolleys. Please note that this area is non-smoking. There is also a business lounge (called the "Clubhouse lounge") where you can access telephone and fax lines, as well as photocopiers and find staff serving refreshments and drinks for first class passengers as well as Frequent traveller Gold and Silver members.

You can exchange currency at the station, and hire cars through Avis. In fact, should you be coming TO England it may be better to hire cars here as you won't have to pay the congestion charge to get the car to and from the station as you do if you were to hire at Waterloo. You can buy tickets for not only Eurostar trains but also for any onward connections you may wish to make and you can even buy tickets for Disney land Paris, the Paris and Brussels Metro system and museums in both destinations.

There is parking available at Ashford International for 2,000 cars. From the car park to the station there is a covered walkway. Parking fees are approximately £5.00 per day. But for Frequent Traveller Gold members and Premium First passengers parking is free.
